Kat and Tiff | RVA Engagement Session | Same Sex Wedding Photographer | Crystal Reyns Photographer

Where to begin on this couple….

They are amazing, fun, totally in love, and LOVE to flirt in front of the camera. I absolutely adored working with the couple as the camera just loves them. And I love the vintage twist to this session.

RVA was the perfect setting for this couple and that pop of red. That sunset glow just loves y’all!!

What y’all may not know is we had to cancel their session TWICE due to rain…..and seriously what a blessing that was to get this perfect day at Maymont.

My first styled shoot | Romantic Boho theme | Crystal Reyns Photography

I am beyond excited and nervous to finally share that my very first styled shoot has been published….and published on a wedding blog I read every single week. It has been a dream come true to say I am officially on Burnett’s Boards (I seriously never thought I would never be able to say that). See their post HERE. THANK YOU to Sara for this awesome publication!!

I started planning this earlier this year when I was out at Shutterfest in St. Louis. Shutterfest is an amazing conference for photographers to learn from other photographers and each other, and every year I become completely inspired. One class really stuck out, Bambi Cantrell’s. She made an amazing statement, ‘do something completely for you every 4-6 weeks to keep you being a creative.’ At that point I knew it was time and I reached out to my amazing photographer friend of Debbie Laughlin Photography and she pushed me with courage to go after putting this shoot together. Thank you Debbie, you are a great great friend!!!!

My inspiration for this was vintage, which I completely love. So I reached out to some local ladies that have rocking businesses to see if they would be interested in helping me pull this off…….and they totally were. Everything that you see in all images is from a bad ass business lady…..except for male model, Doug. Styling this shoot was completely fun. I had the help of Megan Wilson of Sweet Sauce that pulled in some really really cool accessories from local vendors in Richmond, check out her blog post about shoot here.

Our first stop was Urban Set Bride with our super awesome model, Alissa, to pick out a wedding dress as this bridal boutique offered the exact style as to what I was going for. Working with Christine and her mom was a complete pleasure and they actually let us feature TWO dresses in this shoot…….amaze-balls right?!?!?

My next contact was the one at only Kacey of Faithful Flowers, seriously one of the nicest people I know, but also the only option for me in suggesting a florist. And in this shoot I gave Kacey the open door to do as she wanted and she NAILED IT!!!! Total above and beyond impressed with her arrangements!!

Cake was by the one and only Pam Harlowe, which she never ever disappoints and makes some of the best cakes around. This was her first naked cake and her husband was the cutest when I picked it up. 🙂 Cupcakes by Bites of Delight

Day of shoot was exciting!! Not only exciting, but choosing a day in July meant it was hotter than a you know what, but everyone ROCKED IT. We started at my home in Bumpass, Va for the models to get ready and set up with the piano as a backdrop. After a few snaps there, we loaded up the truck and cars and moved to a riverside location for a the main part of this shoot. With a little table set up, an amazing gold chair from Paisley and Jade, some fanning off of the models we were ready to go…..oh and a dress change…..and possibly walking through some poison ivy which I am highly allergic to (s0 worth it!). Ending river side with some champagne was so whimsical as the sun came in just perfectly.

Some of my favorites from the shoot:

Megan and Charlie’s Gorgeous Countryside Wedding l Louisa, Va Wedding Photographer

I finally got to meet Megan and Charlie in person the day before their wedding, I know a few photographers or vendors gasped at that. They flew into Virginia just two days before their wedding from Hawaii, as both are in the Navy stationed in Pearl Harbor. They planned a small intimate wedding day to share with close friends and family from around the U.S. having some travel from Texas and California and other states.
I loved capturing and hearing how everyone came together for this wedding and helped with the planning. The perfect touches of lace, pink peonies, and tans for the guys was perfect for spring. With it being spring, it also meant spring showers, and boy did it rain. The rain didn’t stop the merriment of the day, and with wishful thinking the sun peeked out right over the mountains as everyone was getting settled into The Inn at Willow Grove in Orange, Va.
Loved this note Charlie wrote for his bride 🙂

 Megan you are STUNNING!!
…a true country boy wears boots…
 work that sass girls!!
 Y’all are just cuties!!

The calm after the storm was GORGEOUS!
Not a dry eye in the house after this super sweet father daughter dance to their song.
Good luck Charlie and Megan, and I look forward to seeing y’all in October 🙂

A gorgeous snowy winter bridal session l Louisa, Va Wedding Photographer

When I first met with Camdynne to discuss her big day she said ‘I want to do bridals in the snow.” Exactly one month after their big day I got to spend a few hours with Camdynne and Kyle on this gorgeous Mineral, Va property. Camdynne you are stunning with your red hair, and you totally rocked this in the snow.
We went against all ‘normals’ for this amazing shoot. As a photographer we know it is a little harder to shoot in the snow, because there is so much white and highlights. Not only did we shoot in the snow, it was sunny, and about 11:00 am……Yes I was hoping for overcast, but I am now so glad it was sunny and these are timeless images for Camdynne.

Camdynne’s Fall Bridal Portraits l Louisa, Va Wedding Photographer

When thinking back on Camdynne’s bridal session, all I can think is perfection. It was a gorgeous Fall day, rather warm for the time of year, and we picked a perfect setting which happened to be a friend’s farm in Madison. On the drive to Madison we actually stopped at two locations as well, which I’m thankful to have such laid back brides that are okay with my crazy ideas like this. 🙂
Camdynne’s dress is AMAZING!!!! Perfect for her! Perfect for fall! And Perfect for a country setting!
And that smile says it all 🙂
 Friendliest horses EVER!
The one shot I KNEW I wanted during sunset 🙂 🙂
And just a few after sun set images as well 🙂

Katelyn as a bride l Va Wedding Photographer

Woooo hoooo Katelyn got married this past Saturday and now I can finally share some of her bridal images from both sessions we had.
This journey has been as true honor, as I met Katelyn a few years ago, when she was blonde and a little firecracker. She reminded me a lot of myself at that age. Since then we have grown close as friends, she has helped/ assisted quite a few weddings and shoots, even traveling to Memphis and Nags Head for weddings with me. Katelyn you have grown into an amazing, gorgeous, kind hearted woman I am so happy to call a friend. So for this moment in her life I wanted it to not only be perfect, but to go above and beyond for her bridal experience. LOVE you to the moon and back pretty girl….always shine bright!! 🙂
Her first bridal session was at an abandoned mansion in Afton. It was a cold Spring day, but Katelyn totally ROCKED it!!
 One of my many favorites!!
For Katelyn’s second bridal session she choose her wedding site for the country side of her….and it was perfect!!!
 Love that smile!!!
 Meet Spirit! 🙂
This image has a little story behind it, and not just a road she is walking down. She is walking from her past, her childhood neighborhood, the house she grew up in, to her new life as a wife…and you look amazing doing it….I wish you the best of luck in this new adventure with Robbie!

A Gorgeous Garden Wedding l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

I have known Starry since we were kids, and being able to capture this special day was such an honor.   Starry and Mike share a special bond and love. They both adore each other to the moon and back, but most of all they are a laid back couple. Through this process I not only got to catch up with Starry, but I got to see a little into the relationship of Starry and Mike, which I took couple pictures of them YEARS ago when I was first starting to take pictures. I LOVE your love, your bond, and above all your friendship you have.
Lewis Ginter was the PERFECT place for their ceremony. Not only wonderful backdrops, but it was quiet, serene, and just like a fairy tale. For that I couldn’t have hope for any more for Starry and Mike as y’all had a perfect wedding day!
And this is my absolute favorite shot of the day!!!
 Starry you are STUNNING!!
These two were SSSOOO much fun during their portrait time 🙂
When you don’t have sparklers, use glow sticks 🙂

A Northern Virginia Country Wedding l Northern Va, Wedding Photographer

It was a gorgeous scenic drive to East Lynn Farms for Jennifer and Grant’s Wedding. I think this day saw every weather except snow in one day, which offered some great skies. It was awesome seeing friends and family coming together to make sure the day was perfect for Jennifer and Grant.
Lots of special touches that made everything come together for this country wedding. Being a couple that hunts together, this was the PERFECT place for their special day. East Lynn Farms offered so many amazing vintage touches on the inside of the property too, which I definitely love.
Jennifer’s gorgeous bouquet was made out of wildflowers from the farm as well. 🙂
How awesome is Grant’s ring…..it has DEER and TURKEY tracks on it…..a true country boy!!
How much are y’all loving this camo tie?!?!
Now there is quite a few things I could say about these ducks, but all I will say is that they are CRAZY, and they needed to be remembered of this day and how they sounded like they were laughing at us.

Megan & Greg are Married!!! l New Kent, Va Wedding Photographer

A PERFECT New Kent, Va Wedding! Megan and Greg had to be the most relaxed bride and groom I have ever had the pleasure to work with to date. Both very excited to get married, but not stressed, or at least it didn’t show. They took every minute of their wedding day to heart. Surrounded by family and friends, and nothing but love and support for them. To say it was an honor to be a part of this day would be a under statement.

This year I have learn to truly enjoy learning more about the bride and groom and their story from their family and friends, and this tends to happen when the DJ hands the mic over. Megan and Greg’s story is just like a fairy tale, and it really was two families coming together.
Being a country girl, Megan planned her wedding details to have that country touch, filled with burlap, lace, and babies breath. The Vintager Inn was the perfect location for this country wedding.

Megan’s Rustic Bridal Session l New Kent, Va Wedding Photographer

Now that Megan is a married woman I can share a few of my favorites from her bridal session. Bridal sessions are so special to me, and I honestly don’t really know why….but I just absolutely LOVE them. It’s the first time the bride gets to see exactly how she is going to look on her wedding day with her hair, dress, makeup, accessories, and flowers…..and I get to capture that!!!! That in itself is an honor.
Sometimes for a bride it is the first time they are in front of a camera with me. It is expected for a moment like that to be nervous and uneasy. For my brides I make it as fun as possible, because girls your ‘REAL’ smiles are your most gorgeous smiles.

Megan decided to do her bridals where she would be getting married The Vintager Inn in New Kent, Va, which is GORGEOUS and offers so many beautiful backdrops. We also went down to Yorktown for a few beach images at sunset as well. I absolutely loved this day and getting to know Megan and her mom. Megan you are STUNNING!!!

 By far my FAVORITE!!!
LOVE the back of her dress…
Megan’s veil was a perfect compliment to her dress

And THEN we took a little drive on down to Yorktown, Va just in time to catch some gorgeous sunlight.

Her Mom was the BEST veil thrower EVER!!!
 EEEEKKK perfection!!!
 Love her laugh!!!
Another absolute FAV!!

Thank you Megan for being SSSSOOOOO awesome!!! I hope you and Greg have so much fun in Antigua on your honeymoon!!
