Gorgeous ombre cake with butterflies!!
Adorable wedding favors to take home 🙂
I’m slightly obsessed with Peonies!!! So I LOVED that they had so many during their day. 🙂
Havana 59 has some pretty awesome architecture, just saying.

The day was Saturday 5.3.14. It was a perfect day for a wedding. Downtown Richmond traffic was insane, due to the bike race, but that didn’t stop the love and coming together of two awesome families to witness Ashley and Otto become one.
Linden Row Inn started to fill with friends and family, all happy faces that couldn’t wait to see Ashley walk down the aisle. A few that came in to see Ashley/ Otto while they were getting ready. As the clock got closer to 4pm you can feel the excitement rise in everyone, and then for Ashley “this is my day, I’m marrying the man of my dreams.”
When Amber first emailed me she was getting married, words can not express how happy I was for her. I knew she was going to be a stunning bride. In finding a location for her bridal portraits, I didn’t want to go with Maymont, because I had had a few other bridal sessions already there the month prior. I wanted something different and unique. We choose one location to be Gardens by Pat at Serenity Cove, and her other location was a wildflower field at Crump park.
The day of her bridals the weather was not so great, and we all watched the percentage change of storms constantly, to out advantage the percentage kept going down and down. Amber knew I loved overcast for images, and it stayed cloudy during her session and then we started to hear thunder coming closer and closer.
We toughed it out and thankfully we did not get rained on. 🙂
Isn’t Amber just stunning?!?!?!
I met Amber last year at her twin sister’s wedding. Her and Travis were so cute at their wedding, and she told me then they would be planning on getting engaged soon. I geeked out when I received her email early this year to discuss wedding packages and to book me for later this year. In the midst of all of this her twin sister was expecting, but she hadn’t told the family yet (but I knew 🙂 🙂 🙂 ). In talking to her sister I didn’t wan to spill the beans, but I knew a move of date would be happening, and I didn’t see that as an issue.
I am so excited for Amber and her sister Shannon as their family has so much love, and they are such a gorgeous family!!
Here is a few sneak peeks of her bridals I can’t wait to share the rest next week as her and Travis’ wedding is tomorrow in Lynchburg, Va.
I have noticed this year, a change in how I shoot weddings. I told myself at the end of last year I needed to
give more, and be better. I trust myself more when shooting, and I pay
more attention to details. Before I would take a few shots of
everything, cake, shoes, dress bouquet, BUT I never trusted myself to do
some more with, or take creative shots. In the back of my mind I was
always thinking, what if they don’t like my vision. This was something I
think we all have to get over, as a wedding day can be very stressful
and exhausting…..I LOVE every minute of excitement during a wedding.
had a lot of rain in May in VA. One of my May weddings was very planned
out. I had met with the bride and groom two weeks prior to the wedding
to plan out every place we would be taking family pictures, wedding
party pictures, and just the bride and groom. I like to keep my picture
taking time to a minimum after the ceremony, so it is always great when
you have brides that will do a walk through of the venue at the same
time of the ceremony days prior. As the wedding day came, it was pouring
rain in the morning. On my way to the venue the rain had stopped and it
was just an over cast, which is a photographers dream for lighting.
Everything was looking GREAT, once she put the dress on it begin raining
again. Sadly to say we were unable to take the bride and groom and
wedding party image that we had planned out. So in the event of this
happening, I do offer the bride and groom a private session to come back
to the venue on another day to get the images that they wanted. With my
added time I was able to get more detailed shots, and I must say I am
loving this new style. I have found myself coming more into my style in
every aspect of my work. It has been 4 years in the making, but so
worth it in trusting myself, and having awesome clients that trust me as
Here are a few of the detailed shot from this rainy May wedding.
WOOOOO another Monday…..hehehehe. If you follow my Facebook, Friday you may have noticed I put up a new timeline cover that stated I would be having wedding specials this month for new brides.
I am excited to announce that this is very true, and live for this month only.
I absolutely LOVE wedding days, the excitement and being in the presence of love is the BEST!! I do like to work with the bride on her timeline to ensure we have enough time for bride and groom pictures, as that is what I pride myself on during a wedding day. The few moments I have with the bride and groom is unforgettable, and sometimes the only time they get during the wedding just to themselves. Getting to capture the love that they share during their special day is timeless to me, and I remember these moments from every wedding, looking back on every wedding these moments still make me smile during the darkest days.
Book during this month for your perfect day, and earn some FREE products. 🙂 ALL Weddings booked during JUNE 2013 will also get a complimentary ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SESSION!!!
