Katelyn and Robbie’s BIG DAY l King William, Va Wedding Photographer

OH my gosh! I am finally blogging about Katelyn’s big day, and I must say she is probably the happiest bride I have ever seen (pics to prove it). I feel as if the time from her telling me she was engaged to this day FLEW by. I remember getting about 20-30 pinterest links a day, and now seeing all the DIY her and her mom, Pam, put it, it was AMAZING. Pam you seriously need to give yourself a huge pat on the back from all your hard work.
I met Katelyn a few years ago during her sister in laws bridal session at Maymont. From there Katelyn helped assist and shoot weddings, and became my travel partner. She also is an awesome model for when I was learning new things, and wanted to try new things with my camera, which for her wedding day was no different as I tried my new technique at sparkler pictures. Needless to say Katelyn has become a great friend and partner in crime, and was there for me during a very tough time in my life, and she is an AMAZING person inside and out that can light up a room, make light of a situation, and a strong woman that will hold her ground (and don’t ever let her get hangry).
This was the first wedding where I got to see it come to life. From months earlier helping design the wedding invites and helping put those together, to going to the venue the day prior and helping with the whole set up, to getting to her wedding (with snacks and a sweet tea in hand) SIX hours early to set up cake and finish helping Pam set up. I LOVED being a friend, guest, and photographer at this wedding. And a thanks to Erica of Hildebrandt Photographer for coming out to second shoot.
Katelyn & Robbie are both good hearted country people that love all things country, from hunting to fishing, to off roading; so in planning their big day they both knew they wanted a country/ rustic wedding. BOY oh BOY did they have a gorgeous country wedding with touches of lace, burlap, trunks, twine….. And Katelyn’s favorite kind of cake…..RED VELVET!

So….when the officiant asked who gives this woman to this man…..her dad stayed quiet and looked around….then responded ‘he can borrow her’

Meet spirit again, as he was seen in Katelyn’s bridals, this beauty made a quite adorable appearance at their wedding πŸ™‚
and then he tried to eat the silk flowers
 TOTALLY LOVE her laugh!!!

Ok I’m a total sucker for father daughter dances, and for sure I def cried during this very special dance. Tommy has such a strong love for his little girl.
And after spending a few minutes from the reception (after formal stuff) I captured the most amazing picture that is already hung in my house. (and got my cardio in for the day)

2nd shooting with Debbie Laughlin Photography l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure of second shooting for the awesome Debbie Laughlin Photography, seriously go check out her Facebook page. As she lives in Va Beach area, she traveled up to Richmond for Mina and Kevin’s Wedding.
It was such a honor to work beside Miss Debbie. But it was also such an honor to be in the presence of such love and laughter.
Mina and Kevin had a rather small intimate wedding at Edgar Allan Poe Museum, located in Downtown Richmond. Family and friends traveling from all over to watch these two wed. I loved hearing their love story from their preacher, on how they met, how they invited their parents. It was quite remarkable and definitely one that pulled the heart strings.

Ashley & Otto Married 5.3.14 l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

The day was Saturday 5.3.14. It was a perfect day for a wedding. Downtown Richmond traffic was insane, due to the bike race, but that didn’t stop the love and coming together of two awesome families to witness Ashley and Otto become one.
Linden Row Inn started to fill with friends and family, all happy faces that couldn’t wait to see Ashley walk down the aisle. A few that came in to see Ashley/ Otto while they were getting ready. As the clock got closer to 4pm you can feel the excitement rise in everyone, and then for Ashley “this is my day, I’m marrying the man of my dreams.”

Ashley and Otto have been together for quite a few years. In learning who they are as a couple, I could not be happier for them. They play, laugh, have their inside jokes, and have the same hobbies, the kind of relationship we can all hope to have. Now in growing as their friend and watching this day unfold, it couldn’t have been more perfect for them.
They were both all smiles walking down the aisle as husband and wife!!
 These are my FAV!
Let the dancing begin πŸ™‚
A special mother daughter dance, that brought myself and almost everyone to tears. Ashley’s mom was also her Matron of Honor.
At the end of the night Ashley and Otto let me sneak them away from their party for a few night shots.
I will leave you with some words of wisdom from Ashley’s mom in her speech. “May your ups and downs only be in between the sheets” Now my PG version of this is jumping on the bed. Remember to have fun and enjoy life with your spouse!!

Amber’s bridal portraits l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

When Amber first emailed me she was getting married, words can not express how happy I was for her. I knew she was going to be a stunning bride. In finding a location for her bridal portraits, I didn’t want to go with Maymont, because I had had a few other bridal sessions already there the month prior. I wanted something different and unique. We choose one location to be Gardens by Pat at Serenity Cove, and her other location was a wildflower field at Crump park.

The day of her bridals the weather was not so great, and we all watched the percentage change of storms constantly, to out advantage the percentage kept going down and down. Amber knew I loved overcast for images, and it stayed cloudy during her session and then we started to hear thunder coming closer and closer.

We toughed it out and thankfully we did not get rained on. πŸ™‚

Isn’t Amber just stunning?!?!?!

Amber Bridal Sneak Peek l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

I met Amber last year at her twin sister’s wedding. Her and Travis were so cute at their wedding, and she told me then they would be planning on getting engaged soon. I geeked out when I received her email early this year to discuss wedding packages and to book me for later this year. In the midst of all of this her twin sister was expecting, but she hadn’t told the family yet (but I knew πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ). In talking to her sister I didn’t wan to spill the beans, but I knew a move of date would be happening, and I didn’t see that as an issue.

I am so excited for Amber and her sister Shannon as their family has so much love, and they are such a gorgeous family!!

Here is a few sneak peeks of her bridals I can’t wait to share the rest next week as her and Travis’ wedding is tomorrow in Lynchburg, Va.

Paying more attention to detail

I have noticed this year, a change in how I shoot weddings. I told myself at the end of last year I needed to
give more, and be better.  I trust myself more when shooting, and I pay
more attention to details. Before I would take a few shots of
everything, cake, shoes, dress bouquet, BUT I never trusted myself to do
some more with, or take creative shots. In the back of my mind I was
always thinking, what if they don’t like my vision. This was something I
think we all have to get over, as a wedding day can be very stressful
and exhausting…..I LOVE every minute of excitement during a wedding.

had a lot of rain in May in VA. One of my May weddings was very planned
out. I had met with the bride and groom two weeks prior to the wedding
to plan out every place we would be taking family pictures, wedding
party pictures, and just the bride and groom. I like to keep my picture
taking time to a minimum after the ceremony, so it is always great when
you have brides that will do a walk through of the venue at the same
time of the ceremony days prior. As the wedding day came, it was pouring
rain in the morning. On my way to the venue the rain had stopped and it
was just an over cast, which is a photographers dream for lighting.
Everything was looking GREAT, once she put the dress on it begin raining
again. Sadly to say we were unable to take the bride and groom and
wedding party image that we had planned out. So in the event of this
happening, I do offer the bride and groom a private session to come back
to the venue on another day to get the images that they wanted. With my
added time I was able to get more detailed shots, and I must say I am
loving this new style. I have found myself coming more into my style in
every aspect of my work. It has been 4 years in  the making, but so
worth it in trusting myself, and having awesome clients that trust me as

Here are a few of the detailed shot from this rainy May wedding.

In LOVE with glittery heels!!!
Probably my new FAV image of bridemaids getting ready!! πŸ™‚

June 2013 Wedding Specials for NEW brides l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

WOOOOO another Monday…..hehehehe. If you follow my Facebook, Friday you may have noticed I put up a new timeline cover that stated I would be having wedding specials this month for new brides.

I am excited to announce that this is very true, and live for this month only.

I absolutely LOVE wedding days, the excitement and being in the presence of love is the BEST!! I do like to work with the bride on her timeline to ensure we have enough time for bride and groom pictures, as that is what I pride myself on during a wedding day. The few moments I have with the bride and groom is unforgettable, and sometimes the only time they get during the wedding just to themselves. Getting to capture the love that they share during their special day is timeless to me, and I remember these moments from every wedding, looking back on every wedding these moments still make me smile during the darkest days.

Book during this month for your perfect day, and earn some FREE products. πŸ™‚ ALL Weddings booked during JUNE 2013 will also get a complimentary ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SESSION!!!

As my 2013 calendar is filling, I do still have a few dates for late summer and fall weddings. πŸ™‚

Contact me at clreyns@gmail.com to set up a consultation to discuss your special day today.
