Kelsey and Jake’s Estate Country Wedding l Crystal Reyns Photography l Ashland, Va Wedding Photographer

Those smiles say it all. Kelsey and Jake were one of the calmest couples to work with. What the picture above doesn’t show is the loud cracking of thunder and dark clouds in the sky behind them, and in the midst of it all they shrugged it off, because the importance of the day was becoming one and being surround by the best people to show their love.
In meeting Kelsey and Jake about a year ago to discuss their big day, their love shined through, and I knew they were going to be so much fun as Jake and I discussed all things Nikon.
Their venue was Kelsey’s best friend/ maid of honor’s parent home nestled in Ashland, Va and what an AMAZING home and even more amazing, welcoming home owners. Kelsey and Jake’s day had touches of navy blue, teal, burlap, lace, hydrangea’s, tan tux’s and lots of DIY that is enough to touch a country girl’s heart.
The day started off sunny and a little on the warm side, as it is June in Virginia. As the venue filled with guests and Kelsey and Jake got ready, the nerves began, and they shared a prayer together without seeing one another. And the mom’s and bridesmaids watched this moment from afar, tissues were most definitely needed for this moment. When guests were seated they were greeted with water, sunglasses, and a fan. As Jake first saw Kelsey as his bride being escorted by her father, he fought back his tears of joy as this moment was real, the moment they told me they waited for for years. Their ceremony was perfect in the Cox’s home stone gazebo, and a couple minutes later Kelsey and Jake were husband and wife.
As guests walked over to cocktail hour, the dreaded clouds of storms began to roll in. Luckily they missed the venue site for awhile, but after dinner the whole sky grew dark. Kelsey being the CALMEST bride ever said ‘well at least we will have good stories to tell.’ And ya know what they did. The party was moved inside the Cox’s gorgeous home, and their foyer became the dance floor for  the night.
Congrats Kelsey and Jake it was a pleasure to capture your special day!!

Lindsey and Phil’s Richmond Reception l Crystal Reyns Photography l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

Lindsey and Phil had an amazing elopement in the famous Las Vegas, NV just a couple of weeks prior to their reception at Conch Republic on the James in Richmond, Va. In hearing all about their wedding and seeing images at this reception it was so awesome to be a part of this event with their closest friends and family. Now I will say I may be a little upset Phil didn’t wear his pink tux to the reception like he did in Vegas, just kidding Phil you looked sharp!
How awesome is this custom cake? Made by a friend of the family and completely captures their personalities.
If y’all have never visited Conch Replubic, it is a must. A great atmosphere, amazing food, and an amazing view of the James River.
Such a fun family!!

Michelle and Austin’s Estate Wedding l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

There is a quote somewhere that states ‘A couple that fishes together stays together.’ When I think of Michelle and Austin that is the quote that comes to mind. Not only does this couple fish together they also throw down on the dance floor and just have a great time together, and to me that is very important. They had a very unique proposal that was wrapped around Austin’s favorite hobby, which happens to be fishing. So in planning their wedding decor, of course it had some angler decor.
Michelle and Austin’s wedding was rather unique as a lot of their family and friends helped with the decor of the day. I must say I think Austin was the happiest groom I have ever had on a wedding day, he couldn’t wait to see Michelle in her wedding dress, and she was STUNNING. And to top it off I have never seen a whole wedding party fishing prior to entering the reception.
Austin actually made this arbor for them to get married in front of……mad props!!
 …selfies with the bride are a must….
LOVED this moment when he spun her around, their love is AWESOME!
Austin and his mom have some SERIOUS dance moves!!! Best mother son dance to date!!
 Boys will be boys….

A Gorgeous Garden Wedding l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

I have known Starry since we were kids, and being able to capture this special day was such an honor.   Starry and Mike share a special bond and love. They both adore each other to the moon and back, but most of all they are a laid back couple. Through this process I not only got to catch up with Starry, but I got to see a little into the relationship of Starry and Mike, which I took couple pictures of them YEARS ago when I was first starting to take pictures. I LOVE your love, your bond, and above all your friendship you have.
Lewis Ginter was the PERFECT place for their ceremony. Not only wonderful backdrops, but it was quiet, serene, and just like a fairy tale. For that I couldn’t have hope for any more for Starry and Mike as y’all had a perfect wedding day!
And this is my absolute favorite shot of the day!!!
 Starry you are STUNNING!!
These two were SSSOOO much fun during their portrait time πŸ™‚

Megan & Greg are Married!!! l New Kent, Va Wedding Photographer

A PERFECT New Kent, Va Wedding! Megan and Greg had to be the most relaxed bride and groom I have ever had the pleasure to work with to date. Both very excited to get married, but not stressed, or at least it didn’t show. They took every minute of their wedding day to heart. Surrounded by family and friends, and nothing but love and support for them. To say it was an honor to be a part of this day would be a under statement.

This year I have learn to truly enjoy learning more about the bride and groom and their story from their family and friends, and this tends to happen when the DJ hands the mic over. Megan and Greg’s story is just like a fairy tale, and it really was two families coming together.
Being a country girl, Megan planned her wedding details to have that country touch, filled with burlap, lace, and babies breath. The Vintager Inn was the perfect location for this country wedding.

A RVA elopement l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

As many of you know myself and Erica have become the best gal pals through photography. We met in a photography group, and it was love at first sight…..JUST KIDDING y’all, but our friendship has only grew from there. From shooting together, being the shoulder to lean on in this business, learning from one another, and to this year even traveling to two photography workshops/ conventions.
I got the text a fews days before this perfect day for an elopement. I was surprised and shocked, as Erica and Drew had plan to do this next year prior to their big wedding STILL planned for September of 2015, in which I am honored she asked me to be her maid of honor. So in my MOH duties OF COURSE I would want to capture this special moment for Erica and Drew. In becoming close with Erica I have learned the ins and outs of all things Erica. We seriously act like a married couple….for real…..like she knows to offer me that chap stick if she takes it out of her purse….
And her son Julian is my little boyfriend, and even responds when I call him boyfriend…..although his responses may not be as nice, but that’s okay he is Erica’s child πŸ™‚
In the few years of learning Erica, I have come to know many things about her and Drew and their relationship. In which I couldn’t be more excited and proud that they finally tied the knot FOR REAL!! As she has spent the past few years already calling him husband, now it’s official. As we did try to keep this surprise a secret, many caught on to our Facebook and Instagram posts…..and put two and two together.

Erica being a photographer herself, planned the day out perfect for lighting……total photographer moment. But we planned to meet 2 hours prior to the ceremony time for all these portraits all around Richmond. As she wanted to capture the town she loves with the man she loves.

As close friends and family joined together, as they had received the ‘we are getting married’ text two days prior, we all followed Erica and Drew to the beautiful location on Libby Hill Park as to where they would pronounce their love and commitment to one another.
And BOOM this is the real us : LOVE YOU HOLY HIPS!! (yes I’m allowed to say that and she won’t be offended)

Lauren’s Bridals l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

Bridals have always been my all time favorite type of session, and Lauren’s was no exception to that statement. The setting was Historic Mankin Mansion which is a beyond gorgeous venue, and also the place where she would be wed a little over a month after this session. They offer a touch of vintage with a lot of class. Totally LOVE LOVE their piano room!
Lauren’s Bridals were also featured on Pretty Pear Bride!!!
Lauren you are GORGEOUS and make such a stunning bride!!
Her AMAZING bouquet is by Flowers by Mona Ray

Rebecca + Chris Engaged l Richmond, Va Wedding Photographer

Rebecca had contacted me a few months ago talking all things wedding and engagements…….from Florida. As they were planning a trip to Va and West Va and she wanted to make sure I got them on my books during their time here……….Total cheese-er moment for me πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
We decided on a country/rustic feel to their session to add that down home romantic feeling, which fit them PERFECTLY!

I have to say is was a true pleasure to capture the love between these two, we had so much fun during their session….y’all wouldn’t have know it was hot as you know what outside.
LOVE that smile girl!!
EEEEKKK a FAV!!

….And just a few family photos …

Priscilla’s Bridals l Petersburg, Va Wedding Photographer

I totally forgot to share these gorgeous images with everyone….shame on me!!! πŸ™

Priscilla decided to do her bridal session at her wedding location (Dellwood Plantation) and downtown Petersburg. The day for this session was a month prior to her wedding date. It was a little chilly, calling for a slight chance of rain, but the perfect overcast for portraits. Priscilla was a champ in the cold and her mom and best friend Megan stood close by with a jacket and assisted me to get the session done quickly.

I will say this to her now husband, Chris. You are a lucky man. Priscilla is by far one of the most polite, selfless, caring persons you could ever meet. I know I am blessed and honored to have captured not only this day, but their Wedding Day.

Priscilla wanted to make this session not only memorable for her, but also for her dad. As he had passed two years ago, and she being a daddy and mommy’s girl wanted to do something extra special. Make sure to scroll to the bottom to view what I made just for Priscilla for her Father/Daughter Dance.

Here Priscilla holds a picture of her mom and dad on their wedding day:
And she is just stunning in black and white as well.

 LOVED these doors!
Priscilla you are STUNNING!!
Her favorite picture of her and her daddy:
Every girl needs a pair of sparkly shoes.

Meet Highlander. As soon as Priscilla was stepping into her wedding gown she turned to me and said, I really want a picture with that white horse. So while she was finished getting ready, I went down and kindly asked the owners if we could make that happen. They gladly said ‘yes.’ When I told Priscilla the great news, she just lit up. I knew she would absolutely never forget her bridal session, because she got to spend a few minutes with this gorgeous horse.
 LOVE this!
And then he asked her if she wanted to get on Highlander. She didn’t hesitate. This was Priscilla’s first time on a horse, and she totally rocked it!!
 Then we headed to Petersburg
 I do love a dramatic image!! πŸ™‚

I wanted to do something special for Priscilla for her Father/Daughter Dance. As being a daddy’s girl, I knew she would never get this moment in real life. So here is the big reveal of my gift to her:

Dani & Joey Engaged l Richmond, Va Wedding Photograher

Here in Va we have had some terrible amounts of rain already this year. To the point there has been flooding, road closures, and resulting in having to reschedule this session with Dani and Joey. As this date came up, myself and Dani watched the radar like crazy people, no joke! It was a monday and the percentage was hit and miss. It rained earlier that day and that weekend. We decided it was a go. We met in Glen Allen, and they session started off in full on gorgeous sun light. As we got about 35 minutes in the sky begin to darken and clouds rolled in. But because Dani and Joey are so awesome they were game on for rain shots, which it didn’t rain on us, thank the lord.

If I can say just one thing about Dani and Joey it is they are beyond HAPPY. Happy individuals, and happy as a couple. Their love and joy shined through this whole session. We were laughing and joking the whole time. I really really enjoyed the time I got to spend with the both of them, and it makes me uber excited for Dani’s bridal portraits and their wedding day coming this Fall.

LOVE!
Dani, my dear, you are just stunning!!!
FAV!!!
Her engagement ring was Joey’s grandma, and it comes with a great proposal story as well πŸ™‚
GAHHH that sunlight!
LOVE this too!
Their love for one another is amazing!
 Dani your smile is contagious.
Love the way the look at each other!
Joey is a Henrico Fire Fighter and they wanted to celebrate that during their session.
 Get it girl!!!
