Where have I been in 2016 | Personal | Catch up| Crystal Reyns Photography

I haven’t blogged in so long…….YIKES…. I apologize guys!!!!

A few have asked where have I been…

Well I took a nice break during what we call our ‘slow season.’

From January to now, we have been cracking down on our wedding planning and we have gotten a lot done, which a blog will be coming on the ins and outs of wedding planning and how NOT to let it get the best of you. I have said YES TO THE DRESS over at my favorite bridal shop, Urban Set bride and couldn’t be more proud to be an urban set bride!!!

We had a fun snowed in weekend with the blizzard, which I would normally venture out into and want to shoot kids, families, baby bumps…..but for once I wanted to be at home cuddled up and just watching the snow and able to take it in without ‘working.’

Traveling, y’all know I love to travel. We spent a nice weekend away at a wonder bed and breakfast in the mountains. I’ll tell y’all what, I think EVERYONE should put that on your bucket list if you haven’t. I know I want to do it again already.

I decided to take a day position at a wonderful company, and I am loving…. BUT that isn’t slowing down the wedding season or sessions, as my weekends are still for photography and some for living πŸ™‚ Β I will gladly say that the 2016 WEDDING SEASON IS FULLY BOOKED as well, and we have already started BOOKING for 2017!!

Like most families we have been dealing with quite a bit of winter sickness and that didn’t leave me out this year. From a little cold to now bronchitis right before the beginning of my season. Thankfully I have an amazing doctor that wants to nip it in the bud as much as I do…..shout out to Stacy at Va family practice….thanks girl!!!

And last but not least….we decided to add another one to our family….. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

MEET Kevin…..(as in kevin bacon):

KEVIN-7187 KEVIN-7196 KEVIN-7200 KEVIN-7212 KEVIN-7214

And lets not leave out mister Sawyer, as he will be turning a YEAR this month…..which means a special shoot just for this big boy. And look at the size difference from him to kevin……and yes he did try to eat him…..but NO PIGS were harmed!!!!

First family portraits | Adoption | Louisa, Va Family Photographer

This adorable family, on their family farm, and that gorgeous light!!!!

I have absolutely loved following and capturing this family’s special story. Lacey and Steven are huge inspirations to couples in our small town that have and are battling with conceiving. Lacey opened up recently about their struggles, and I love the support that she has received and how she is able to lift other couples up with hope with sharing their story.

They wished, hoped, and prayed for Jace….for FIVE years. This year Lacey and Steven received the blessing of adoption of this sweet, adorable, baby boy. I was able to capture their adoption announcement earlier this year, and it was announced in a slideshow to one of Lacey’s favorite songs, Overloaded. View itΒ here.

As the due date came quick, Lacey and I stayed in touch as she knew she wanted to capture their first family portraits soon after bringing this bundle of joy home. We planned the location, the time, and date. What I didn’t plan was to fall completely in love with this adorable chunky baby. He is PERFECT! And now their family is even more perfect with this addition.

Lacey shared her adoption story on Beauty and Lifestyle Magazine (view story here) and it is an inspiring story, but get your tissues out ladies.

Harrison Family l Louisa, Va Family Photographer

Nick contacted me early last year to surprise his beautiful wife with a family session. Now, months later we have finally caught up to do these, and I couldn’t have been more excited to spend an early morning with them right in the town of Louisa. They made the long trip from Winchester for the weekend to visit with friends and family, but this over cast morning was all mine!!
Luckily Nick’s brother, Dusty, is one of my bestest friends, so we conned him into coming as well.
Thank you Harrison’s for being so much fun during this whole session, I’m still laughing just looking over the images!!
See how excited he was to be there:
And our session turned into more of this than anything:
Per Dusty’s request….this happened…. HEHEHEHE
Now I know what you are thinking when you look at this next image….YES… that is Dusty….it’s weird maybe….but its a family inside joke….so of course we had to capture that πŸ™‚
True sibling love right there!!!
HA HA HA a favorite

Outdoor boudoir Event l Louisa, Va Boudoir Photographer

Now that it is officially Spring the planning can start for the outdoor boudoirs. I know I had quite a few ladies contact me early this year for information on it……..now we can all get pumped, because I love planning these as well.

This year I will be offering THREE different outdoor boudoirs:
In the woods: June 7, 2014
Water boudoir shoot: contact me individually
Wheat field: late June/July
Surprise : In August (wink wink)

I will have very limited spots for each of these. They are a first come first serve. Packages all include a mini photo album as a keepsake. Hair and makeup can be included in your package if you wish. Deposits will be required to hold your spot, due to limit availability.

Lindsey & Josh l Louisa, Va Wedding Photographer

I sent out a model call on Facebook, while I was in St. Louis for shutterfest looking for a bride and groom. Lindsey was one of the first to contact me and super excited to work with me on short notice. I had an idea of what I wanted to capture and Lindsey and Josh went above and beyond what I could’ve wanted. Thank you so much for being such great models for this shoot.

Louisa, Va is a small town in the middle of nowhere. It is my hometown. Not somewhere I used to care to drive through, or even claim I was from. As I have gotten older, I bought my first house back in my hometown, and I have grown to love everything this little town has to offer. As a photographer I am in love with the small town feel of Louisa. A place where mom and pop shops still exist. Where there is only a few stop lights still, and everyone knows everyone. For this shoot I wanted to tell a story of my home town with a bride and groom…..Why you may ask….Because I haven’t seen bride and groom pictures done in the town of Louisa, and I wanted to be the first to tell this story. πŸ™‚

This is my home town:

 Lindsey you are gorgeous!!!
 Love this wall.
I believe Lindsey said her Grand-dad painted this wall.

 Life in Motion!

We have quite a few trains come through on a daily basis, and it happened that this one came through, as I hoped for at time of shooting. For my photographer buds, this is with a slower shutter speed and a steady hand to capture exactly what I envisioned. πŸ™‚

And the most perfect sunset I could’ve asked for!

Thank you to Lindsey and Josh for being such a fun couple to work with πŸ™‚

Groome Maternity l Louisa, Va Family Photographer

I have a small obsession with baby bumps, which may not be a secret anymore. I LOVE maternity sessions, and I absolutely loved this early morning session with Valerie and Brandon in Beaverdam, Va. We started out our morning with. “I only allow you and Brandon to touch my belly.” <—– LOVE that!!! Why? Because I have to rub the baby bellies, it is a small obsession I am working on. hehehe

I have been looking forward to this session since Valerie told me the good news, and I had to keep it in for a few weeks until they announced it publicly. Brandon and Valerie are both red head, and I am soooo hoping for an adorable fully red haired baby Brantley when he makes his appearance. πŸ™‚

Their session was full of so much laughter, and Valerie’s smile and laugh can light up a room. Brantley is already so lucky to have such loving parents. I can’t wait to watch them grow as a family. πŸ™‚

LOVE that bump!!
Valerie you are GORGEOUS, and yes I am jealous of your natural ginger hair.
My FAV!!
So cool you gotta wear shades πŸ™‚
LOVE this!!!
HA HA Ha you have to LOVE their sense of humor!!
Another FAV!!

I loved this hat, so I had to incorporate it into a few poses. πŸ™‚

Houston Family l Louisa, Va Family Photographer

Meet the Houston’s. A family that is so welcoming and full of love and laughter. I was welcomed with handshakes, hugs, big thank yous from everyone. If I could be adopted into a family, seriously this one would be it. Not just because of all of their stellar good looks, but because of the love they have for each other.

I have been conversing with Julie for a few years. She has been so generous to allow me to use their properties for sessions over the past years. Last year I finally got to actually meet Julie, and it was like I was meeting up with a friend. A lovely lady so full of life and love, and y’all would just love her country accent.

After the kids all move out, I’m sure others can relate how hard it may be to get everyone together for family pictures. We planned this out months in advance, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day for their session. On this day I got to meet the rest of the family, and I am so thankful that I was able to capture these moments for all of them. Thank you for being so kind and welcoming.

Four generations

They have five children, and four grand-children

A dad/grand-dad with all his girls.

 LOVE this one!!

And it all began with LOVE…….

My First Mr & Mrs Day l Personal

I am so excited to share about my first ever Mr & Mrs Day. I am so thankful for my couples that came out. I throughly enjoyed catching up with everyone of y’all.

Preparing for this day was rather stressful. With being the first year of doing this, I didn’t know what to expect, and where to really start. This day was inspired by a class I took at WPPI in March, Matt Kennedy and Katelyn James talked about giving back and creating a community. As this was something I had been wanting to do for my clients, I just didn’t know where to start. So my planning started by contacting ALL of my past bride and grooms. Then contacting Lauri that does custom cookies, as I did want something sweet to give to them. πŸ™‚ And she did an amazing job with the cookies, everyone loved them. From there I wanted to gift something that would enhance their marriage and relationship. The 5 love languages is a great book for any relationship and not just marriage. It discuss all the things we do in the beginning of a relationship, but they fade away. We forget do to them as we get comfortable, and it offers suggestions on how to bring that back into the relationship to keep it going. Help couples fall back in love with one another, which I want all marriages to be successful in every way.

I also wanted little fingers foods to have while we caught up. πŸ™‚ And it was an excuse to make my awesome fruit dip.

So impressed with Lauri’s work on these cookies that are branded to me πŸ™‚

Here are the cookies Lauri designed for my couples to take home, and this is the book that was in their gift bag.

Here is a few images of a few of my couples, I LOVED doing this for them, and I can’t wait to plan next years. πŸ™‚

Ashley and Junior are expecting baby number TWO so y’all know I had to get a baby bump picture.
I love Rikki and Steven’s love, and I love watching them grow as a couple.
And it wouldn’t be complete without some instagram images:
What is a party without some beer…..
Of course Skeatti has to be the center of attention.

Trish and kiddos l Louisa, Va Family Photographer

I loved catching up with Trish this past weekend, as she came to my home studio. I hadn’t seen them in almost a year. Nate has gotten so tall, still a little shy at first, but he did warm up to me again. Miss Bethany, wow we what a year’s difference makes, and she is such a gorgeous little toddler now.

This was my first studio session after being back from WPPI where I took quite a few classes on lighting and posing. I was so excited to put to use what I learned, and I can tell such a difference. πŸ™‚

 LOVE this!!!
Look at all those gums πŸ™‚
Then we got to talking about 4-wheelers
Bethany wasn’t feeling the brother/sister love.
What did you say to me? LOL LOVE this expression
